BRITS POS – BRITS - Twelve SANDF members were arrested for the killing of Hawks member, Lieutenant Colonel Ngwako Frans Mathipa on, 6 August 2023 while driving on the N1 highway near the Hammanskraal off-ramp.
He was hot on the trail of the suspects in the investigation for kidnapping and murder.
The case against the 12 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members arrested for the murder of Lieutenant Colonel Ngwako Frans Mathipa was postponed in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 June.
Two suspects, aged 36 and 51, were apprehended on Sunday in Centurion and OR Tambo International Airport and 10 SANDF members handed themselves over to police on Monday morning.
Police also seized a vehicle that allegedly belongs to a 36-year-old suspect and it has been impounded for further forensic investigation. It is alleged that the vehicle had been used in the kidnapping of two male foreign nationals at a mall in Midrand, 29 December 2022.
The case against the 12 SANDF members was postponed to 1 July 2025 for further investigations. The State will oppose bail.
