RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Vlieëniers van regoor Suid-Afrika het die afgelope Saterdag hul tuis gemaak by Airspan Aerodrome vir ‘n verskeidenheid van aktiwiteite rondom vlugkuns. 
Die hoofdoel van die byeekoms was ‘n “Formation Flying”-seminaar wat oor twee dae aangebied is deur die Experimental Aircraft Association (EEA). Daar is saam geleer, gelag en gesels, maar bowenal, gevlieg!
Karl Jensen, afgetrede Suid-Afrikaanse Lugdiens (SAL)-kaptein, was een van die kleurryke karakters wat die geleentheid bygewoon het. Jensen is tans inwoner van Johannesburg, maar ten spyte van sy aftrede uit die nasionale lugdiens, het sy passie vir vlieg en vliegtuie nie getaan nie.

Hiérmee stem doktor Jaco Meyer, oud-inwoner van Rustenburg heelhartig saam. “Die musiek wat ek komponeer is meestel konseptueel en hou verband met kuns. Ek hou baie van moderne en konseptuele kuns en probeer hard om die kuns en musiek op ‘n manier by mekaar uit te kry. Met konseptuele musiek bedoel ek meestal dat ek musiek skryf wat ‘n geïnteresseerde persoon se brein aan die gang sal sit.”

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Die volgende byeenkoms van Rustenburg Leeskring vind op 30 April 2024 by Chestnutlaan 3, Proteapark plaas. 
Die byeenkoms begin oudergewoonte om 15:00. By hierdie geleentheid sal prof Hans du Plessis oor sy jongste boek,”Inkommers”, gesels.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Excited, smiling and in awe. 
These were some of the emotions on the faces of grade four and five learners from the Thanya Institute of Learning, who had the privilege of visiting the premises of the North West group of papers on Tuesday, 9 April. 
The school consists of three campuses, located in Heystek Street in town, Paardekraal and Sunrise Park. Accompanied by five educators, the youngsters were starry eyed and curious do discover the goings-on at the printing press of the newspaper factory.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Die Minister van Basiese Onderwys, Angie Motshekga, het verlede Woensdag in haar verskyning voor die gekose komitee oor onderwys en tegnologie, sport, kuns en kultuur in verband met die Wysigingswetsontwerp op Basiese Onderwyswette (Bela) tot groot verligting van ‘n beduidende persentasie van die Suid-Afrikaanse onderwyssektor ‘n ommekeer rondom beheerliggame se magte ten opsigte van taal- en toelatingsbeleid gemaak en verskeie toegewings met betrekking tot klousule 5 en 6 van Bela aangekondig. 
Die Nasionale Raad van Provinsies (NRP) verwerk tans die Bela-wetsontwerp, nadat dit op 23 Oktober 2023 deur die Nasionale Vergadering aanvaar is.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - South Africa’s Information Regulator has announced that it issued its first enforcement notice resulting from a direct marketing complaint.
The notice was issued to FT Rams Consulting — a training institution — after the Information Regulator found that it contravened various sections of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
This comes after the regulator decided that a clause on marketing via telephone must be added to Section 69 of POPIA. “The Regulator received a complaint from a data subject (a person about whom the personal information relates) following countless direct marketing messages received by them,” the watchdog said in a statement on Tuesday, 27 February 2024.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Rustenburg Library held a colour-in competition on 7 February 2024 in conjunction with Viva Primary School for the foundation phase learners. The competition was divided into three age categories (5-6, 7-8 and 9-10). A total number of 40 learners participated in the competition and the award ceremony was held on Wednesday 28 February. The competition is one of the library activities used to drive the love of reading and to develop life-long reading. Learners are also encouraged to develop talents beyond learning in the classroom and to discover hidden talents in the arts.

Die piepklein dorpie Derby suidoos van Rustenburg stof die Platinastad egter proporsioneel myle ver uit as ‘n mens kyk na die twee grootste en beroemde persoonlikhede wat dié klein dorpie opgelewer het. 

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - South African motorists will pay between R54 and R97 more to fill up their petrol tanks from today (Wednesday, 6 March). 
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy’s Central Energy Fund (CEF) announced the upcoming adjustments in fuel prices in a statement on Monday. The prices of all four primary types of fuel — petrol, diesel, paraffin, and LP gas — will be increased. The biggest hikes are on unleaded 95 and unleaded 93 petrol prices, which will both become R1.21 more expensive.
