RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - During the past week Rustenburg Herald has been inundated with calls and letters from disgruntled consumers who claim that they have incorrectly received final demands for payment from RLM. It was alleged that the consumers in question were in arrears on their monthly municipal payments.
Rustenburg Herald spoke to Ms Odirile Madiba - Acting Spokesperson of the RLM - on what prompted the letters of demand to be sent out:

“Residents are advised that the municipality has dispatched SMSs for collection purposes. There was a technical system error that effected the ageing on the statements,” Madiba said. “This unfortunate incident affected several consumers whose accounts are fully paid up to date. These consumers will receive updated and corrected statements by 16 August,” Madiba concluded.
“The municipality sincerely apologises for any inconvenience that this might have caused. The correct communication will be sent out to those who are indeed indebted to the municipality,” the Municipal Manager, Adv AR Khuduge, concluded.
