RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - A female employee of the Rustenburg Municipality’s Housing department has been suspended on charges of corruption and bribery while her male assistant is to follow suit in a spate of corruption and bribery that has been going on for years on end at the Rustenburg Municipal flats for the elderly in Kremetart Avenue and Church Street Rustenburg.
According to a trusted source, an investigation into allegations of corruption and bribery at the municipal flats had already begun in 2016 and finally the cards seem to be tumbling, Rustenburg Herald was told.
Information shared by informants had it that exorbitant “fees” were being charged for the privilege of being moved to the top of the waiting lists for both the Kremetart Avenue and the Church Street flats for the elderly. In 2016, the fee to be moved to the top of the list was already R400 and has since increased to an enormous amount of R1 700, Rustenburg Herald was told. The suspects however seemed to have bitten off more than they could chew when no less than three different people were all charged R1 700 for the same unit - which led to the plot being exposed by the authorities.
