RUSTENBURG HERALD – MARIKANA - The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Marikana has launched a manhunt for two unknown suspects following a fatal shooting incident that occurred at a residence in Mmaditlhokwa Village on Monday night, 4 August.
According to Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, Rustenburg police spokesperson, the police responded to the scene and found the lifeless body of an adult male lying in a pool of blood inside a house. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Mr Given Magoba, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the upper left chest.

It is alleged that during the incident, the now deceased girlfriend was asleep alongside the partner and their child when two unknown males forcefully entered the house. The suspects, who spoke in either Setswana or Sesotho, demanded cellphones.
While the victims were searching for their phones in fear, the suspects opened fire. Three shots were fired, after which the victim collapsed. The suspects fled the scene on foot without taking any property.
A case of murder has been opened, and investigations are continuing. Police urge anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the Marikana police station or call Marikana SAPS Detective Commander Captain Tlou at 0827727810.
The Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, condem-ned the brutal act and assured the community that every effort is being made to apprehend those responsible.
