RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Rustenburg motorists will be surprised by the progress that has been made at the Helen Joseph bridge, where teams of Raubex have toiled away laboriously over the past few months in an effort to, as much as possible, shorten the period that Rustenburg drivers have to negotiate traffic volumes without the luxury of probably the most important bridge in uptown Rustenburg.

The Helen Joseph bridge was officially closed early in July of this year, following the completion and reopening of the Kruger Street bridge which also underwent “doubling” in terms of the Bakwena N4’s current dualling project. Although the Helen Joseph bridge’s official completion date is set for 30 July next year, there might be a welcome surprise for Rustenburg motorists later on. Rustenburg Herald’s photographers visited the Helen Joseph construction site, which is expected to close soon for the December holiday recess. Our photographers took these images with the permission of the Project Supervisors on Friday last week.
Perhaps there is some good news that could be shared with Rustenburg motorists shortly after the resumption of the Helen Joseph project at around 15 January 2026. Time will tell, however.
Despite the frustration of a closed Helen Joseph, Rustenburg is indeed indebted to the Raubex team for all their dedication to ensure that Rustenburg’s traffic pains are kept as brief as possible - a big thank you to Geo and his team at Helen Joseph bridge!
