RUSTENBURG HERALD – KOSTER - On Monday, 16 June, police in Koster swiftly arrested a 33-year-old male suspect for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, following a successful intelligence-driven operation in Reagile Location.
According to Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, police Spokesperson in Rustenburg, it is alleged that police received a tip-off about an individual, who was believed to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm at a residence in the Downbase section of Reagile.

Acting on the information, members of the South African Police Service operationalised the intelligence. A search was conducted, which led to the recovery of a Taurus .38 Special Revolver, five live rounds of ammunition and one spent cartridge.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is expected to appear before the Koster Magistrate’s Court soon. The recovered firearm and ammunition were seized and booked as evidence for further investigation.
The Acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District Commissioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, commended the swift response of the members and reaffirmed the SAPS’s commitment to ridding communities of illegal firearms and ensuring public safety.
