RUSTENBURG HERALD - PHOKENG - The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Phokeng has launched an investigation into a case of murder following the death of a 32-year-old man, originally from Mpumalanga and residing at Boshoek Informal Settlement. According to Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, Rustenburg police spokesperson, on Saturday, 6 September, the victim was brought to the Phokeng Health Centre with severe injuries consistent with a sjambok assault.

Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was certified dead as a result of head injuries. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was allegedly assaulted by a known suspect after a housebreaking incident. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. Police have since initiated a manhunt. The SAPS appeals to members of the community who may have information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to contact Phokeng SAPS or Det Sgt Thabiso Sefora on 071 351 9686.
