RUSTENBURG HERAL - RUSTENBURG - “What day is it today? It’s Rainbow day!”
On Friday, 19 September, the grounds and hall at Karlien Park Primary School was abuzz with all kinds of activity when staff from Rainbow Chicken Rustenburg and educational representatives from around Bojanala District were welcomed to their “home” at Karlien Park, as expressed by the Principal, Muneeb Omarjee.
The occasion? The unveiling of a brand new sign depicting the school’s name.
As a long-standing neighbour to local schools, Rainbow Rustenburg is committed to giving back into its community. “We want to nourish the nation. We expect effective learning in a conducive environment,” commented Thabelo Netsianda of Rainbow Chicken. The company has introduced a school nutrition programme that provides meals to approximately 5 000 children across local primary schools in Rustenburg. For many children, these meals are a gateway to improved learning, school attendance, and brighter futures.
“For it is in giving that we receive,” Omarjee remarked in his word of welcome to the audience. “It is a wonderful day, thank you for making this extra special, Rainbow Chicken!”
In her address, Zenda Pick, School Governing Body representative, said: “We appreciate the fact that Rainbow’s support of our school is not a once-off act of kindness, but a weekly blessing. Thank you for making a difference in our schools and our community.”
Rainbow Chicken’s nutrition programme includes a group of seven beneficiary primary schools who came together to enjoy the day’s proceedings, along with learners, members of SGBs, parents, teachers, Rustenburg Local Municipality and local leaders.
Ward Councillor, Luan Snyders, an alumnus of Karlien Park Primary expressed, “This is more than a donation. It’s an investment in the future of our children.” He also encouraged the learners to have a vision for their respective futures and to “make your principal, your teachers and your parents proud.”
Koen Le Roux, Rainbow’s Inland Director, said, “Today is about the learners and their futures. Nourishing young lives through this programme reflects who we are, and what we stand for. By investing in our future generation, we strengthen the fabric of our society.”
