Klerksdorp Record, Jouberton - Maya Zaman from Jouberton is getting ready to shine on stage at the Face of SA Teen 2025 pageant next week in Johannesburg.

This 16 year old teenager describes herself as passionate about helping the youth with advice within her neighbourhood. She also advocates for teen mothers, as her elder sister became pregnant in her teenage years. Her message to teen mothers is clear.

‘’There is still time and lots of opportunities to empower oneself after bringing life to the world at a young age.’’

Maya says she often sees how these girls wilt and give in as they no longer see any value in themselves. Her wish is to run dialogues and live sessions where she can reach out to both male and female teens to discuss and share ideas about principles and moral values, so as not to fall prey to social media and everyday life predators and scammers who promise money and lavish living in exchange for sex.

She is confident that she will indeed bring this crown where it truly belongs - right here at home in Matlosana as this is one of the municipalities hard hit by youth unemployment, depression, and despair, clearly noticeable by high drug and alcohol abuse. Bringing the crown home will truly give hope to her peers that only the sky is the limit to what one wants to achieve, and there is more to life than even though you may find yourself in a poor home economic background.

She gives thanks to God, her granny Ouma Gobe for consistent prayers, her mother for support through her modelling journey, and her coach, Phoebe Moselane and Skepie Scheepers as a mentor.

She vows to make Jouberton Ext 20 residents proud. ‘’Come December 16, I am bringing it home,’’ she said.
