Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - This year, Miss Klerksdorp is 50 years old and probably is one of the longest running beauty pageants in South Africa.

A survey and traceable records revealed that the pageant was first hosted in approximately 1974. In the 1990s Klerksdorp Record became involved in the hosting of the pageant and in 2004, the current owner of the pageant, Zee Dyson, came on board as choreographer and stage director. After a two year break she obtained ownership again in 2022 and acquired the Mrs Klerksdorp title that she incorporated with Miss Klerksdorp.

“By introducing the Mrs Klerksdorp title, it brought a significant change to the pageant with title holders going above and beyond to serve the community. This pageant has always been a highlight in the community and the winners have proven their worthiness and kind support in many crisis situations in the community,’’ says Zee.

Her main goal with the pageant is to create opportunities for local ladies and providing a well-established platform for them to build on. “Every year I am astonished as to how the contestants grow in themselves and keep the good name of our pageant in standing. I cannot even mention how much goodwill is performed by the winners and contestants."

Entries for this year’s jubilee pageant will close on March 31. The gala event promises to be a spectacular showcase and will be a true golden jubilee celebration.
