Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The community and members from Neserhof Neighbourhood Watch identified the need for a firefighter in their suburb.

Through several fundraising efforts as well as the donation from the ward councillor Johannes le Grange, they assembled and restored a firefighter with a 1 000 litre tank and brand new pump.

The assembly and restoration was done by the members and on February 7 the Neserhof Neighbourhood Watch Firefighter was commissioned and paraded to the residents in a mass patrol where some of the fortunate members had their sidewalk lawn sprayed with water from the firefighter.

The firefighter trailer was also named the “Ollie-Wagen” in recognition of the efforts by Fanie Olde-wage that drove this project from start to completion. The City of Matlosana Fire Brigade has further offered the members training in fighting fire that will take place in the near future.

Anyone that resides in the Neserhof- and Swart Street-area and is interested in joining the Neserhof Neighbourhood Watch, can send a message to 084 834 4573.
