Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - In preparation of next year’s World Shoot competition that will be held at Frontier outside Stilfontein, the Africa Level IV Handgun Championships kicked off this week.

The opening ceremony was held at Matlosana Mall on Tuesday September 24 with shooters from 27 countries competing here including the princes from the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia.

According to John Loupellis, Match Director, this competition recorded the most entries ever for an African Level IV Handgun Championships with over 550 competitors competing. The event will last until September 29.

Executive Mayor Fikile Mahlophe said it was an honour for him to open the prestigious event. He expressed his gratitude to the organisers for bringing the shooting competition to Matlosana and boosting the local economy. He wished all the participating teams well in the shooting competition.

Loupellis explained that the match requires a competitor to complete various stages by shooting against the clock while scoring as many points as possible in the shortest amount of time. “We would like to thank the Mayor of Matlosana and all the dignitaries that came from all over the world to be part of this event, and also a big thanks to everybody who made the match possible, from building the ranges, the event planners, and all the sponsors for the match.

“We look forward to the World shoot 2025 that will be taking place the same time next year, we hope to see you there!’’
