Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - An admin clerk working at Supply Chain Management (SCM) at Jouberton SAPS appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court last week.

Goitseone Johnson Julius Kgoele (48) was charged with fraud. He appeared on August 6 and was released on a warning. The case was postponed to September 27.

It is alleged that Kgoele tampered with a fuel claim earlier this year. According to Col Adéle Myburgh, police spokesperson, he allegedly drew a cash advance at the financial office to buy fuel for a state generator. “He allegedly took the money and thereafter used an official petrol card to buy the fuel. The North West Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit investigated the matter, leading to his arrest.”

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, condemned the incident and emphasised that unethical conduct and the involvement of South African Police Service (SAPS) employees in criminal activities will not be tolerated.
