Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - There is a new cop in town - and he means business.
Klerksdorp SAPS welcomed Brig Tsietsi Morebodi into its fold in September and after almost three months in the hot seat, he has settled in his new position as Klerksdorp Station Commander. It was his admiration for the uniform and the discipline that comes with it, that encouraged a young Morebodi to join SAPS after matric.
Growing up in Ikageng, he admired the men and women in blue, until he became one himself. He started his career in uniform 31 years ago when he worked at the VIP unit in Pretoria. He then proceeded to Public Order Police (POP) Vereeniging in 1995 and was transferred to Potchefstroom POP in 1997. Four years later, he was appointed as the Station Commander of Klerkskraal SAPS as a Warrant Officer.
In 2004, he was promoted to the rank of a Captain and worked as a Visible Policing Commander at Ikageng. The post of Station Commander is not new for this dedicated man in blue. Between 2004 and 2013, he was Station Commander at Buffelshoek, Bethanie, and Ventersdorp. He also worked at Potchefstroom Visible Policing and Support Services.
Before he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier, he was the Support Services Head as well as the Acting Station Commander at Potchefstroom SAPS.
Brig Morebodi stressed that his love for the community and making a difference is what he enjoys most about being a police officer. “I am looking forward to actively interact with the community of Klerksdorp.’’
As a police officer, he has always been fascinated with public policies and analysis, believing that it can assist in upholding the law. Another one of his strengths, is creating a happy workplace. “I believe that charity begins at home, and a happy employee is a productive employee,” he clarified.
Brig Morebodi holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Science and wants his members to be empowered through education. “It is my wish that members serving under my command use the resources that the organisation avails or offers like bursaries to study and empower themselves with a knowledge to interpret and apply the Law.’’
He support the national police initiative of boots on the ground and promised to spend most of his time in the field, engaging the community and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that they collaborate to reduce the levels of crime in Klerksdorp.
Welcome in Klerksdorp, Brig Morebodi.
