Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Another police officer stationed at Jouberton police station was murdered.
Sgt Fundiswa Motlhaoleng was gunned down on Tuesday afternoon January 14 while she was on her way to work. Brig Sabatha Mokgwabone, police spokesperson, said she was shot by unknown suspects while in her private vehicle driving in Tjaart Kruger Street, Randlespark. Three empty cartridges were found at the scene. Her body was found inside her vehicle. She was shot in the face.
“A black Volkswagen Polo with four occupants was seen driving from the scene at a high speed. The motive for the murder is not known and the killers are still at large.’’
Klerksdorp Record was told that the murdered sergeant was a colleague of the late Const Mofalefa Mgwebi who was killed in Kanana on November 24. Both of them worked on the same shift in the visible policing unit. He was also found with gunshots on his upper body inside his vehicle.
The police did not want to comment on the possibility that the murders might be linked. The acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng conveyed condolences to the family, friends, relatives and colleagues of the late Sergeant. He ordered the investigation team to work around the clock to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested. The General also reminded members to constantly be alert whether on or off-duty.
