Klerksdorp Record, Lichtenburg - MEC JS Lahari released the second quarter crime statistics last week. He told a group of esteemed guests that they activated the safer festive season operations in October and declared at the time that in this province, they are not going to be tolerant for any deviancy.
“We reminded everyone that in this province we are going to be unsympa-thetic to any wrong doing. Any contravention of any edict of the republic, will be dealt with harshly.
“Any one wrong move, will meet the full might of the law. This is because as we are preparing for the year end festivities, criminals are also preparing their plans to harm South Africans and steal their belongings. We have already begun with law enforcement operations which are beginning to bear fruits. However, as you shall see in the presentation of the Second Quarter Crime Statistics, there are some areas where crime has gone down whilst elsewhere has gone up.
“There has been a year on year increment of murder, sexual offences, assault with the intent to inflict grievous bodily harm and robbery with aggravating circumstance as compared to the same period last year. We are releasing these statistics as the country is observing the Sixteen (16) Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children.”
