Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The countdown to the annual Aurum Klerksdorp Marathon has started.

The event will take place this weekend, on Sunday February 9.

Pre-entries closed on Tuesday February 4, but you can still enter on Saturday between 16:00 - 18:30 and on Sunday from 05:00.

 

The event offers the beginner an easy 5 km event, the more regular runner a 10 km run and the serious guys can choose between the 21 km half-marathon and the 42 km full qualifying marathon. Athletes who take part in the 42 km event are people aiming to compete in the Two Oceans or Comrades marathons later in the year. 

The Klerksdorp marathon is the biggest marathon in the NW and attracts athletes from as far as Botswana every year. Last year, 1 200 athletes took part at Hoërskool Wesvalia in the various events.

This year’s edition already promises to be bigger than the previous years.

Every participant is guaranteed water points on route with cool drink and cold water as well as ‘n unique medal at the finish line.
