Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A memorial service for Motsomi George Morebodi was held in the Auditorium last week. The executive mayor, Fikile Mahlophe, was one of the speakers at the ceremony on Saturday February 8.
Morebodi, generally known as Hunter, passed away on January 29. He was 64 years old. He started getting ill in 2021, but worked right up to his death. He worked as deputy director at the local municipality from 2014 until his passing in January this year. He was born at Makweteng, Khuma and went to Tukisang Primary School.
Speaker reaches out to Ward 37
Lentswe, Jouberton - The Speaker’s Outreach Program is currently underway in Jouberton, Ward 37. Cllr Stella Mondlane-Ngwenya, along with Ward 37 councillor, Happy Plaatjie, are providing essential services to the community. The program aims to bridge the gap for those struggling to access these services.
Shoes for the underprivileged
Lentswe, Jouberton - The Executive Mayor, in partnership with Absa Bank, has donated school shoes to underprivileged learners across the Matlosana municipality. Cllr Fikile Mahlophe visited various schools on Tuesday February 4. This initiative aims to support disadvantaged learners by ensuring they have proper footwear as they begin the new acade-mic year.
Show love to Dominionville
The members of St Agnes and Aloysius, Daughters of St Anne Sodalities and Youth group from St Peter’s Catholic Church in Jouberton visited the community of Dominionville to show love and support. The visit took place on Sunday January 19.
Chiefs’ supporter passes away
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - One of Kaizer Chiefs’ biggest fans will miss the first derby of 2025.
Dickson Langalakhe-Maphitshi AKA Khosi-Khosi passed away on January 21 after a short illness. He will be buried on Saturday February 1.
His family describes him as a man who loved soccer. His favourite team was Kaizer Chiefs.
He was born on New Year’s Eve in 1958 and is originally from the Eastern Cape, but moved to Klerksdorp in 1982 to work at Harties Mine. He stated working as a security guard in 2000.
He will be missed. “May your soul rest in peace.”
