Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A 47 year-old woman appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court this week on a charge of murder after a local businessman was stabbed and found dead in his Land Cruiser last week.
“Mathabeng Mmusi appeared in court on Monday November 13. She is linked to the murder of Motseothata Phillimon Dikgwatlhe (56) whose body was found on Thursday evening November 9, in Hartbeesfontein along the R503 road. The body was found with a stab wound on the upper body in his vehicle next to the road with lights on. He was certified dead by emergency medical services personnel,” said Capt Afjee Botma, police spokesperson.
Mmusi was arrested in Hartbeesfontein the next day.
The businessman, known as Oom Philly to his community and business fraternity, was an entrepreneur who worked for the Leba Cinema in the 1980’s in Klerksdorp.
He started his many different businesses in Jouberton and further expanded his establishments to Tigane in the early 1990’s. “He was very diligent and innovative and managed to move with times and remained efficient and relevant in his operations until the time of his passing,’’ his family said in a tribute.
His contribution to his family, the ZCC church, the local and business community will be immensely missed.
The family understands that Philly was loved by many and would like to thank all for the messages of condolences. The funeral will be on Thursday November 16, 07:00 at Tigane Community Hall.
