Lentswe, Jouberton - An all stakeholders meeting was held at Are Fadimeheng High School this week to look into the ways and means of fighting and curbing gangster activities. This meeting with parents and community based patrollers and ward councillor, Mothusi Peele, SGB and other community structures took place on Tuesday November 21.

It is alleged that learners from Are Fadimeheng, Chris Hani and Mofatlhosi Secondary schools are fighting each other in Jouberton.

According to the principal, Leatile Moromane, members of the groups calling themselves Amarotwe and Asijiki are fighting each other and their barbarism flows into the school premises. An assortment of dangerous weapons that include knives and pangas were confiscated from learners.
One parent said her son was transferred to Klerksdorp hospital having been admitted at Tshepong hospital with serious stab wounds. The parent said her son is still in a critical condition after being stabbed three times in the back.

The parents agreed that their children be searched and those with weapons be disarmed and their weapons be handed to the police.

The meeting concluded that those who are also selling drugs to their children not be ignored. They will be followed and be brought to book.

“These feuds are disturbing the smooth writing of the exams that started last week. Learners have been traumatized by the disturbances caused by these gang-related deeds. The former ward councillor Semonyo said gangster activities might have also affected both Thea Morafe and Sediko primary schools that are found in the areas controlled by these gangsters.’’
