Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court sentenced David Mogori (37) to 10 years imprisonment on Monday July 15 for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Mogori was arrested in October 2018, following a tip-off received by members of the Klerksdorp based Serious Organised Crime Investigation about a suspect who was seen in possession of firearms in Kanana.
“Upon searching the man’s house, the police found three firearms and ammunition. He was subsequently apprehended and charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition,’’ said Lt-Col Tinyiko Mathebula.
Mogori was found guilty on both count. For unlawful possession of firearms, he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, and for possession of ammunition, he was sentenced to seven years imprisonment. The Court has ordered that the sentences on both counts run concurrently therefore, the accused will serve an effective 10 years imprisonment.
