Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Cllr Matome Mangesi, the MMC for Electrical Engineering in the City of Matlosana Municipality, recently held a roadshow across all wards in Matlosana to inform residents about the importance of upgrading their meter systems. The current pre-paid electricity metering software will expire on November 24 for all prepaid electricity meters in South Africa. All consumers, whether supplied by Eskom or the Municipality, must update the coding on their prepaid meters to continue purchasing electricity.

If the meter codes are not updated, prepaid tokens purchased will not work, leaving affected customers without electricity.

The prepaid meter coding project is essential for technical reasons to ensure that all prepaid meters continue to function properly. Key Revision Number Two (KRN2) and Standard Transfer Specification (STS) technology will stop accepting credit tokens when the vending codes for the meters expire. The re-coding of your meter is free of charge, and there will be no cost for this change.
