Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A young woman suffered a terrifying attack in July last year when she was shot and stabbed after visiting a night club. She survived the attack only to identify her ex-boyfriend as one of her attackers. Modiehi Kgalapha spent months in hospital and went to the Klerksdorp Magistrates Court on Wednesday February 7 where she was supported by members of the community when her ex’s case was heard. “I want justice. He can’t just get away with what he has done,” she said. Her day of hell took place early on July 2 last year after she visited a nightclub in the CBD the night before.

She parked in the parking garage and had a flat tyre. She asked passers-by to help her change the tyre when an unknown man wearing a balaclava started shooting at her. She was wounded in the chest.

Then her ex-boyfriend, Steven Moagi Pule, allegedly turned up, yelled at her for leaving him and then she was stabbed. Kgalapha recounted how he allegedly begged her to take him back until she, bleeding heavily from her wounds, said yes. “He then told the masked man not to kill me.’’

It was only in hospital that she told the nursing staff the ordeal she went through. She identified her ex-boyfriend and the police arrested him. She is still traumatized and the bullet is still stuck in her chest.

Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson, confirmed that the case against her ex was postponed to February 28 for further investigation.
