Lentswe, Klerksdorp - North West Premier Bushy Maape will be out of the country until January 31 for medical treatment in Thailand.

During his absence, the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi will act as Premier. MEC Maloyi was sworn in by the Judge President of the North West Division, Ronald Hendricks.

In response to the Premier receiving treatment overseas, the DA’s Freddy Sonakile said the fact that he would rather seek treatment abroad indicates his vote of no confidence in the provincial public health system he presides over.

“While we wish Premier Maape a speedy recovery and good health, it is concerning that he would seek medical treatment abroad instead of accessing medical facilities in the province.’’
