Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The North West Department of Education has noted serious concern over schools denying report cards to learners due to outstanding fees. As schools across the province are in the process of issuing reports, some have reportedly withheld them for various reasons, including unpaid school fees.
The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi, strongly condemned this practice, calling it “highly unacceptable.”

“I have received numerous calls from parents and learners across the province who complain about learners being denied their report cards. This action is highly unacceptable, and those school principals should desist from doing so,” said MEC Motsumi.

“Every year at this time, I continue to repeat the same message that learners should be given their report cards.”

MEC Motsumi emphasised that schools must deal directly with parents, not learners, to recover any outstanding money. She reiterated that parents must fulfill the commitments they make to the schools.
