Lentswe, Potchefstroom - The North West Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, commended the Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit (ACIU) for the arrest of Sgt Myka Constance Shale (46). Shale who is attached to Crime Intelligence Gathering (CIG) was arrested at her house in Ikageng on Wednesday July 23.

According to Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson, she was charged with defeating the ends of justice.  Reportedly, Shale met with an informer, who allegedly handed a firearm to her that was picked up on the murder scene of Wilfred Casper (38). The murder was reported on July 12 in Marikana at Promosa. However, after receiving the firearm, it was never handed in nor declared by her.

Wilfred Casper (38) was found with multiple stab wounds and other injuries and died. Within five day’s Ikageng Detectives arrested eight suspects for his murder. It is alleged that they are all members of the SVK-gang.

The eight appeared in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on July 17 for murder and were remanded in custody until their next court appearance.

Shale was granted R4 000 bail.  She is expected to appear in court again on October 6.
