Lentswe, Jouberton – Law obeying and committed community servants decided to create a safe space in the kasi.
Lerato Mashobane Matjoi noticed that the townships are full of open veld spaces that turned into a hunting ground for the lawless.

“We used the open space behind Motlhanke Funeral Parlour and next to the Post Office and built a temporary structure with the help of the nearby community, and created a place where people can sit and relax and also enjoy themselves.”

They used damaged pallets from different businesses to create chairs and tables, cleaned the whole area to make it appealing.

“It is not a business, just a safe space. We intend to use the area until the municipality or rightful owner implement something. We hope this will encourage the whole KOSH area to identify such areas and make them useful to fight crime.”
