Lentswe, Alabama - If there is no water for days on end, you have to make a plan.
The Die Brood is Hier NGO received funding from IDC to sink boreholes at different schools to help with water supply. According to Claude Jacobs from Die Brood is Hier, the community suffers, especially school children.
“Some are sent home when there is no water and this makes them lose important teaching days. Water is a basic right and necessity and no child should lose educational days because of no water.’’
Last year they drilled a borehole and installed water tanks at Alabama High School and this year they have drilled at Manzilpark Primary School as well as Goue Arend Primary in Alabama.
This initiative will also cater for the community when there is no water from the Municipality’s supply.
According to Jacobs, Die Brood is Hier has also identified more schools in the area and will also start raising
funds and look for funding for these schools.
“We are trying to bring about positive change in our communities and have many other programs we are busy with such a drug rehabilitation programs and our weekly bread program whereby we distribute bread to Alabama households.
“Anyone is free to join and join hands with us to fight for the voiceless.”
