Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The man who was shot in killed inside his car in another daytime shooting in Klerksdorp was identified as Vusi Mnisi.
His friends called him Grootman. Klerksdorp Record reported last week that police are investigating the murder and attempted murder of Mnisi (38) and another man (45) who were shot in Pienaarsdorp on
Wednesday June 12.
Lt Col Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, said gunmen opened fire
on a silver Audi outside a home in Lombaard Street. Mnisi was killed and the passenger in the vehicle was rushed to hospital with several wounds.
The incident happened at about 18:10. Funani said the motive for the attack is still unknown and no arrests have been made yet.
Investigation is underway.
Mayhem in Kanana
Lentswe, Kanana - Calm has returned to Kanana after all hell broke loose with several shots and explosions earlier this week. These incidents occurred after 23:00 on Monday June 17. A resident contacted the newspaper and said he is hearing various shots and explosions. He sounded petrified and said it is terrible, he is fearing for his life.
Provincial police confirmed the situation and said that an unknown group of people set cars alight and fired shots at passing cars.

Zama-Zama gets 8 years behind bars
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Last week an illegal miner was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for being caught with unwrought gold. Masoetsa Ramaena (46) was arrested in October 2021 in a bust by SAPS’ special task force on illicit mining and the Klerksdorp Hawks at a dormant shaft that was occupied by illegal miners. A shootout ensued between the Zama-Zamas and the police leaving six of them dead. Numerous firearms, illegal mining paraphernalia, vehicles and food were seized during the operation.
