Lentswe, Potchefstroom - Omphile Makhobosi and Palesa Mphela, members of the NWU’s dance team on the Mahikeng Campus, have been selected to represent SA at the 2024 World Dance Sport Federation World Championship’s Latin U21 competition. The prestigious event will take place on November 16 in Salaspils, Latvia. Prince Gontse Motaung, their head coach and manager, has also been selected as national coach and manager. This selection has earned them Protea colours. Palesa says this achievement is a testament to the power of dreams, hard work and perseverance. She adds that the journey has been tough, but that every drop of sweat, every tear shed, and every ounce of effort has been worth it. “I am grateful to my coach, my teammates and loved ones who have supported and believed in me throughout this journey.”

Omphile says this opportunity is not only a personal milestone, but also a significant responsibility.

“I feel a profound sense of pride and gratitude for the trust placed in me. I am committed to giving my very best and representing my country with excellence, dedication and integrity.”

He adds that this experience is a unique chance to learn, grow and connect with talented individuals from around the world.
