Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The City of Matlosana’s Directorate of Public Safety, in collaboration with the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality’s Environmental Health Department, conducted a clean-up drive in Buffelsdoorn Road recently.

City officials worked alongside SAPS members to inspect businesses to ensure compliance with municipal by-laws.

The teams checked various establishments, including bed and breakfasts, car dealerships, mechanical shops, and food outlets, to verify that they operated with the necessary licenses.

Businesses found to be violating the terms of their licenses face serious consequences.

Some fast food outlets selling expired or unlabelled goods had those items confiscated.

Additionally, businesses that sold hazardous products and failed to comply with safety regulations were temporarily closed until they met the Town Planning safety requirements.

According to Ntswaki Makgetha, municipal spokesperson, the clean-up campaign aimed to ensure that consumers have access to fresh, safe food products and that shops operate in a clean and safe environment compliant with municipal regulations.
