Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The deteriorating condition of Lautz Avenue in La Hoff is hazardous, causes damage to vehicles and puts the lives of road users at serious risk.
“The residents of Ward 16 have repeatedly reported the potholes to the Municipality and even to the Director.
“However, the responses have been consistently unsatisfactory, citing excuses such as a lack of funds or vehicles. Despite these claims, potholes in other areas are being addressed, raising questions about the allocation of resources and priorities within the Municipality,” said DA Cllr Jacky Basson.
She explains that the hidden hazards of these potholes during the rainy season will lead to increased car damages, surpassing the normal ratio. This is not merely an inconvenience but a serious safety concern that requires immediate attention.
“The consistent failure to address the potholes is a clear indication of the Municipality’s disregard for the needs and safety of the residents of Ward 16. The DA demands an explanation for this neglect and a detailed strategy to rectify the issue promptly.
“Our residents have the right to drive on safe and well-maintained roads.”
The DA in Matlosana will closely monitor this situation and hold those responsible accountable. "We will not stand by while our community suffers due to the Municipality’s incompetence and mismanagement. The residents deserve transparency, accountability, and immediate action,” said Basson.
The DA “will continue to advocate for their needs and demand that the Municipality takes immediate action to fix these potholes. The safety and well-being of our community depends on it”.
