Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Mahikeng High Court dismissed an urgent application brought by the City of Matlosana’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mercy Phetla in an attempt to halt disciplinary action against her. On Friday September 26, Phetla’s bid to get an interdict against the municipality from proceeding with disciplinary hearings against her was struck from the court roll. She was further ordered to pay the municipality’s legal costs. Phetla has also sought to set aside the appointment of the presiding officer and evidence leader in the proceedings.
Speaker can fund own trip, says DA
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Matlosana Speaker, Stella Mondlane-Ngwenya is nominated for a Pan-African Local Leadership Excellence Award. The prize giving will take place in Dakar, Senegal in November and she will need to attend if she is one of the top 3 finalists. Voting closes on October 10. The city council already approved to pay for her travel and accommodation should she be in the top 3. But, says Cllr Inge Wilken, why does the city need to pay for these expenses? “Surely she can fund it from her own pocket? The municipality is struggling to pay creditors, settle mounting debt, and restore even the most basic services to residents.’’

Die program is verstommend - 48 rugbyspanne, 64 netbalspanne en 16 hokkiespanne! Dan is daar nog dodgeball ook waaraan 16 spanne deelneem.

Hiking, camping, spring festival at nature reserve
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Local Economic Development (LED) Directorate in the City of Matlosana, led by MMC Wesley Kgang, launched the Kwalata Hiking, Camping, and Spring Festival at Faan Meintjes Nature Reserve.
The festival is a celebration that goes beyond recreation, bringing together community, nature, and economic empowerment, said Ntswaki Makgetha, municipal spokesperson. The event was attended by the North West Tourism Board, the Matlosana Hiking Club, Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, EMRS, and hiking enthusiasts from across the region. Delivering the keynote address, Cllr Kgang emphasised the festival’s importance for both the local economy and community well-being.
