Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The District Governor of Rotary visited the local Rotary clubs recently. During Steve Shone’s visit to Klerksdorp Rotary he delivered an inspring address reminding members of the importance of sharing their Rotary story with the world - because if they don’t tell it, who will? He left them reflecting on a po-werful question: “What is your hashtag?” Klerksdorp Rotary also introduced their German exchange student, Theo Weidinger, to the DG, who is already bringing fresh energy and perspective to the club family.
Schoonie bevind hom aan die ander kant van die tafel
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - ‘n Oud-Schoonie wat in die jaar 2000 gematrikuleer het, sal hom op 1 September weer by die skool aansluit. Dié keer as adjunk-hoof. Johan Jansen van Vuuren (43) is aangestel as die nuwe adjunkhoof van Hoërskool Schoonspruit. Hy sal sy pos op 1 September inneem. Hy is tans ‘n onderwyser by HTS Klerksdorp waar hy sedert 2005 ‘n onderwyser is. “My vrou, Lizelle, is ook ‘n onderwyser by HTS. Dit is waar ons ook ontmoet het,” het hy aan Klerksdorp Midweek gesê. Hy gee Lewenswetenskappe en was ook departementshoof van Wetenskappe, en is ‘n uitmuntende rugby-afrigter.

Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Ellen Pakkies, who has admitted to strangling her tik-addict son, endured years of abuse not only at the hands of her son, but also during her childhood. Ellen, a social worker, will give a motivational talk at Alabama Secondary School in Isipingo Street, Alabama on September 6. An award-winning film was made about her struggle with drugs and her decisions. The URCSA choir will present this talk. The theme of the talk is “From pain to purpose - A journey of strength and survival”.
The tickets are R80 per adult and the talk will be held in the hall. The time is 14:00. Refreshments will be for sale. Contact the school on 083 847 1157 to buy tickets.
Matric prelim exams kick off
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The 2025 preliminary examinations for the Class of 2025 started on Monday August 25. A total of 43 719 candidates across the province are sitting for the exams. This includes 41 924 full-time candidates and 1 795 part-time candidates. The first two days of the exams were practical exams for Information Technology and Computer Application Technology. On Wednesday Au-gust 27 matrics will begin with a three-hour Information Technology paper in the morning followed by Home Language Paper 1 in the afternoon.

Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Kom vier die koms van die lente by die Pick n Pay stalletjiemark wat die einde van die maand gehou word. Die mark vind op Saterdag 30 Augustus van 09:00 tot 14:00 plaas. Volgens die organiseerder, Tinus van Staden, het 55 uitstallers reeds hul staanplek bespreek vir die mark. “Kom kry jou lentetuin gereed met die groot verskeidenheid vetplante, tuinplante, tuinbakke en potte, klippies en skoon kraalmis wat te koop sal wees.
