Klerksdorp Midweek, Stilfontein - Collective efforts by members of Combined Private Investigation (CPI) and the police resulted in the recovery of stolen copper cables and arrest of 11 suspected thieves last week in Stilfontein and Potchefstroom. All the suspects arrested in Potchefstroom appeared in the local Magistrate’s Court on Friday November 7, on charges of damage to essential infrastructure and possession of suspected stolen copper cables. The accused were remanded in custody until Friday November 14, for a bail application. The accused, who are from Lesotho, are also facing additional charges of contravening the Immigration Act.

Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Executive Mayor, Cllr Fikile Mahlophe officially handed over new vehicles to the Department of Fire and Rescue Services. The new fleet includes a state-of-the-art fire engine and three Land Cruisers. The fire engine is equipped with modern features, including a built-in camera, an electronic step ladder, and powerful floodlights, enhancing the municipality’s ability to combat structural fires. The Land Cruisers will be utilised to respond to grass and veld fires.

Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Two members of the Youth in Agriculture and Rural Development (YARD) in the province were elected to serve in the Youth Chapter of the World Food Forum South Africa. The newly elected representatives are Thabo Makoa, who will serve as Chairperson of the Youth Chapter, and Lesedi Gaaboe, elected to the Policy and Strategy portfolio. Both leaders hail from the North West and are members of the provincial YARD leadership structure.
