NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - Police stations from Biesiesvlei, Coligny, Itsoseng, Lichtenburg, K9 and Local Criminal Record Centre (from the Ditsobotla Service Point) demonstrated unity in diversity, cultural heritage, and reflection on national identity through shared traditions, poems, dance, cultural dishes and languages on Friday, 3 October, at Itsoseng stadium.

In opening the ceremony, Pastor Gobusamang Matshego prayed, followed by Warrant Officer Titus Sewagodimo who welcomed all attendees and elucidated on the purpose of the gathering. He highlighted the importance of preserving cultural practices and the collective responsibility to build a better, more inclusive future, adding that South Africa is a rainbow nation rooted in its diverse cultural makeup comprising the spirit of Ubuntu, values of compassion and social responsibility, which shapes the organisation.
As part of the celebration a competition was held where each station/unit had to decorate their stalls dressed in vibrant traditional attire. They also had to prepare cultural dishes. Judges from Siyavuka-Siyahamba Arts, Omphile Chawane, Mphoentle Sebego and Tshireletso Moilwa, were given an opportunity to introduce themselves as well as listing the requirements for the competition to all participants.
In the end, Coligny SAPS (Batswana) came out on top. Second place was awarded to Lichtenburg SAPS (Swati) and the third place went to Local Criminal Record Centre (Bapedi). The competiton turned the occasion into a meaningful event for everyone.
At the end of the day, Lieutenant Colonel Boitshepo Mokwena extended a word of gratitude to all attendees for their participation. He further directed special thanks to the judges and encouraged members to engage in activities like this to promote cultural understanding and the diverse tapestry that unites the organisation.
