Gerda Steyn clinched a record sixth consecutive Two Oceans ultramarathon victory after crossing the finish line at the University of Cape Town’s rugby field in a time of 3:29:10 on Saturday. While Steyn has made her stamp as the queen of the 56km Two Oceans route, she was, however, not quick enough to better her record time (3:26:54) for a fourth time in succession. Steyn’s time was the third fastest time in the women’s Two Oceans, with the two fastest belonging to her as well.

Atleet op pad na SA kampioenskappe
Antonio Vajsel (o/23) van Fast Feet Lichtenburg atletiekklub verwerf twee goue medaljes by Noordwes provinsiale atletiekbyeenkoms te Rustenburg.
Hy kwalifiseer in die 110m hekkies en verspring en sal Noordwesprovinsie verteenwoordig by die Suid-Afrikaanse atletiekkampioenskappe in Groenpunt, Kaapstad 27-29 Maart.

Veelsydige vlieënier vlieg hoog
NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - Andries van Rensburg (14),’n leerder van Hoërskool Lichtenburg, het ‘n besondere talent vir helikoptervlieg en oefen gewoonlik by die plaaslike vliegklub in Lichtenburg, veral oor naweke.
Sedert hy op 6 Januarie 2024 begin het, het hy reeds meer as 2 000 uur op Helix-X geklok, en meer as 500 uur spandeer met sy geliefde Specter 700 NME helikopter. Hy is ook ondersteun deur ‘n internasionale maatskappy wat hom as ‘n internasionale vlieënier erken en bevorder.
