STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: From Friday March 8 to Sunday March 10, Tiger Kloof Educational Institution at Vryburg, celebrated its 120th anniversary with a series of events that honoured its rich history and vibrant community. 

 

The weekend was filled with sports, music and heartfelt reunions, highlighting the institution’s enduring legacy and the strong bonds among its alumni and current students. Saturday 9 March celebrations kicked off with a brunch and an afternoon of sports that brought together students, staff and alumni. The sports provided an opportunity for friendly competition and camaraderie, setting a joyous tone for the rest of the weekend. On Friday and Saturday evening, the Vryburg Theater was alive with music and dance as the community gathered for a spectacular concert. The concert, which featured performances from all primary school children and a number of high school students, celebrated the history and spirit of Tiger Kloof in song and dance - the theme was “The Joy of Diversity.” Performances were met with enthusiastic applause from a sold-out audience on both nights, showcasing the talent and dedication of the students, staff and the support of the community. The celebrations concluded on Sunday with a moving church service led by Reverend Drake Tshenkeng. The service provided a moment of reflection and gratitude, honouring the institution’s past while looking forward to its future. It was attended by many alumni, affectionately known as “Tigers,” as well as SGB and board members and current students and staff. The 120th year celebrations saw a remarkable turnout, with many Tigers returning to their alma mater to reconnect with old friends and make new memories. The presence of alumni, SGB and board members underscored the lasting impact of Tiger Kloof and the strong sense of community that continues to thrive. Tiger Kloof Educational Institution was founded in 1904 by the London Missionary Society (LMS). From its inception, the institution has been dedicated to providing quality education and fostering the holistic development of its students. Over the years, Tiger Kloof has weathered numerous challenges, yet it has remained a beacon of learning and growth. The 120th anniversary celebrations not only commemorated this remarkable history but also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to its mission and values. The new Tiger Kloof will be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year. The 120th year celebrations at Tiger Kloof were a resounding success, bringing together past and present members of the community in a joyous tribute to the school’s enduring legacy. Through sports, music and reflection, the events highlighted the institution’s rich history and the strong bonds that unite its members. As Tiger Kloof looks to the future, it does so with a renewed sense of purpose and a deep appreciation for its storied past.
