BONUS - RUSTENBURG - The 2024 SA Rally-Raid Championship might have kicked off somewhat later than usual with the first round of the season, the #TeamHiluxRally-Raid Nkomazi taking place on 19 and 20 April in the Malalane area in Mpumalanga, but it will all be worth the wait.
With South African competitors and vehicle manufacturers playing major roles in the rally-raid scene globally and the World Rally-Raid Championship, which started with the Dakar Rally in January in Saudi-Arabia, various competitors have been competing elsewhere, but locally the action will be tangible from the opening round until the end of the seventh round in November. Like last year, the #TeamHiluxRally-Raid Nkomazi will be the opening event on the calendar and it will also be the first race where a few changes to the SARRC will be put in place for the first time.

BONUS - RUSTENBURG - South Africans will spend between R1.02 and R2.18 per kilometre driving to their holiday destination this Easter weekend, depending on the type of vehicle they drive, a recent analysis has revealed.
It was calculated what it would cost to travel along some of the country’s most popular holiday routes using this month’s fuel pricing and South Africa’s updated toll fees.
For the calculation a combination of inland and coastal unleaded 95 and 50 ppm diesel prices were used to calculate fuel costs.
High intensity Operation Shanela sees more than 1 000 suspects arrested throughout province
BONUS - RUSTENBURG - The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena reiterated that police across the province will continue to squeeze the space for criminals when responding to serious and violent crimes through Operation Shanela, which is focused on enhanced crime prevention and combating.
Consequent to operations conducted between Monday, 11 and Sunday, 17 March 2024, a total of 1 260 suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and common, dealing in drugs, illegal dealing in liquor, possession of drugs, burglary at business and residential premises to driving under the influence of alcohol.
Spectacular Spar Grand Prix victory in Cape Town
BONUS - RUSTENBURG - Former Grand Prix Champion Glenrose Xaba (Boxer) dug deep in the closing stages of the race on Sunday, producing a late kick to stun her opposition as she stormed to victory at the opening leg of the Spar Grand Prix 10km series in Cape Town.
After taking the lead around the halfway mark, Xaba slipped off the pace with less than two kilometres remaining, with Ethiopian teenager Diniya Kedir Abaraya (Nedbank) opening a gap, but the South African star clawed her way back to move clear again, crossing the finish line in 32:17.
RHS athletes excel
Athletes of Hoërskool Rustenburg did exceptionally well at the Super Inter High Athletics Meeting where RHS came overall second in the B-league division.
