Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Sebolelo Ingrid Duma, chairperson of the Public Service and Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) died on Sunday March 2 after a short illness. Born and bred in Klerksdorp, she was the first South African black female professional expert in labour law and industrial relations. Her labour law career started at the CCMA in Klerksdorp as a Case Management Officer and later moved to Johannesburg where she was promoted to a Commissioner.
She was the founder and director of Dimo Labour Specialists, a consulting firm in the public and private sectors based in Johannesburg since 2018. She was involved in various labour organisations and started as an advisory member of the Board for the Tshwane University of Technology since 2019.
Messages of condolences continue to pour out from colleagues, different trade unions across the country.
“As one of the pioneering Black female leaders in the field of labour law and industrial relations, Dimo served the PSCBC with dignity and unwavering commitment. She played a crucial role in ensuring that the Council remained steadfast in its mandate to uphold labour peace and industrial stability in the public service through collective bargaining, dispute prevention and resolution and good governance,” said the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU).
She matriculated at Tshedimosetso Secondary School in Jouberton. In 2024, she obtained her Masters in Labour Law and was looking forward to even greater achievements.
She was married for 24 years to her high school sweetheart, Harry with two children and was a permanent resident of Suideroord in the South of Johannesburg at the time of her passing.
She will be missed by her family, extended family, friends, colleagues and leaders around the country.
The funeral will be held on March 8 at the Klerksdorp Recreation Centre. The service begins at 07:00.
