Lentswe, Potchefstroom - The local police request the community’s assistance in locating and identifying a man wanted for attempted rape. “On March 8 at about 15:00, a 21-year-old victim was walking in an open field, near the railway line, close to Vuselela College in Potchefstroom, when an unknown male asked to accompany her. He then grabbed her and forced her into nearby bushes, but she fought him off and managed to escape and call for help.

The man is very dark in complexion, tall, with a muscular built, short hair, a goatee beard and scars on the right side of his neck. He is estimated to be in his fifties,” said Lt-Col Amanda Funani, police spokesperson.

Anyone with information that can assist the police to identify and trace the man, is requested to contact the investigating officer, W/O Rendani Bulannga of Potchefstroom Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, on 082 568 9028/36.
