Lentswe, Kanana - The police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man in a tavern over this weekend. They were called to the scene at 5:45 on Sunday morning September 1. According to Col Adéle Myburgh, police spokesperson, apparently there was an argument between two men and one of them pulled a firearm and fired a shot, killing the other man. “Friends of the wounded man ran with him outside to get help, but he collapsed in front of the tavern where he died before the ambulance arrived,’’ she said. Meanwhile, the shooter got away and is still on the run. Anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts are requested to contact Kanana SAPS or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111. Col Myburgh said steps are also going to be taken against the tavern owner because he operated outside operating hours.

Lentswe, Alabama - Kingdom Recovery is a volunteer group of Alabama who lends a helping hand towards drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation.
Currently they provide for 17 individuals in four different rehabilitation centres in Gauteng and need to raise R22 500 every month to pay for the six month programme. The programme started in June and it is a struggle to pay the funds due every month as they rely on funding from donors because many families cannot pay for the rehab themselves. “It is very sad that when a family comes to us with a patient that wants to go for rehabilitation then we have to put them on a waiting list due to lack of funds available.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - “We are not construction mafia. You can’t label us like that. We represent the poorest of the poor and will continue doing that.’’ This is how an upset Mzukisi Jam reacted to the report in last week’s Lentswe in which he was identified as one of the trespassers against whom a court order was issued earlier barring him from the construction site in Buffelsdoorn Road. Jam is provincial spokesperson of the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO).
