NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - The social movement of men called God; Restore Our Good Life (GROGL) with the motto “Men of Action Walking Together” under the leadership of Dr Daniël Buthelezi recently held a successful Men’s Conference at Polly De La Rey outside Lichtenburg.
The theme of the conference was “Uniting against Social ills to advance Social Peace, Stability and Cohesion.”
The main speaker at the conference was Dr Shadrack Mvula who is an education expert and Deputy Director General in the NW Department of Education. He articulated the theme in a simplified way. The delegates and other attendees at the conference appreciated the message and welcomed the insightfulness of the contents.
The other guest speaker was Dr Mokganedi Morwe, a General Medical Practitioner in Lichtenburg, who also addressed the conference on “Ten Main Male Health Problems and Social Effects.” The presentation was powerful and eye opening.
The other guest speaker was Mr Samson Leshilo, who is a practising Attorney of the High Court. He addressed the conference on “Legal and Social Issues Affecting Men and Boy Children.” The men in attendance felt empowered after the talk, as some legal issues are sometimes taken for granted and can be detrimental and impactful in our lives, especially if you are on the wrong side of the law. Men were also made to understand legal grounds and important matters relating to their rights.
This was the first Men’s Conference of GROGL which will now become an annual event. GROGL is a very young movement, less than two years old (started in 2023) but its growth is amazing, because it is currently in all four regions of the North West province and in five provinces of the Republic of South Africa. GROGL also operates in other countries of the SADC Region like Botswana, Mozambique and Lesotho and it continues to spread its wings to other countries.
The historic day was concluded with the second Annual General Meeting (AGM) of GROGL where reports of the movement were presented.
Several clauses of GROGL’s Constitution were amended and the portfolios or positions of the National Office Bearers were also amended (such as the position of the Chairperson that was changed to President, as well as others). This amendment was affected due to the growth of the movement which has spread to other provinces and SADC Region.
In acknowledgement and gratitude to the men who are not members of the Executive Committee, but are making an immense contribution towards the success of GROGL, were awarded with certificates and other tokens of appreciation: Dr Shadrack Mvula, Mr Oshebeng Alpheus Koonyaditse, Dr Mokganedi Morwe, Mr Samso Leshilo, Rev Mafoko Andrew Setshedi, Rev Molefi Lesley Morubane, Prophet Simon Lehloo and Mr Brian Setswambung. They were thanked for the impact they made in the movement in their different proficiencies.
The GROGL leadership also acknowledged the matriculants who are about to start their final academic examinations: “We would like to take this opportunity to wish the matric class of 2024 success in their final examinations. May the good Lord continue to protect our children and their teachers against any forces of darkness. We are aware and understand that these are trying times. We however trust in the Lord for the success of everything. God bless you. Shalom.”
