STELLALANDER-MAKGOBISTAD: Police in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies and role players continued with weekly crime operations to prevent and combat crime, during which a total of 7499 actions were executed between Wednesday, 2 and Monday, 6 October and that led to the arrest of 1004 suspects for various offences. 

The suspects were among others, arrested for crimes such as for robbery (10), murder (7), rape (4), assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (125), common assault (56), malicious damage to property (22), burglary at residential and business premises (30), possession of drugs (86), illegal possession of firearms (3), illicit mining (31), dealing in drugs (2), illegal dealing in liquor (27), theft out of / from motor vehicle(4) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (58). Moreover, 72 suspected undocumented persons were taken in for processing by immigration officials. 394 of the 1004 suspects, were apprehended during detectives suspect raiding operations. During the operations, a variety of drugs, 20 cell phones, 20 kg of copper, liquor, tobacco products, two vehicles and other items were confiscated. At Makgobistad, police on patrol noticed an Izuzu vehicle, with two occupants, on Monday morning, 30 September at 03:00. They stopped the vehicle at Disaneng Village at Senobolo Section at a bridge on the D414 road. Upon searching the vehicle, police found 11 goats of which the occupants could not account for. Hopolang “Boss Arrow” Mofolo (42) and Zinhle Shezi (32) were immediately arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property. They appeared before the Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 3 October and were remanded in custody until their next court appearance on Wednesday, 9 October.
