BRITS POS – BRITS- “Die rooistinkhout, Prunus Africana, is een van Suid-Afrika se beskermde boomspesies,” vertel Henry Francis, voorsitter van Pilanesberg Dendrologiese-vereniging.
“Die besondere boom kom vanaf die noorde van Zimbabwe tot in die suide van die Oos-Kaap voor. Die rooistinkhout is nie familie van die witstinkhout, Celtis Africana, nie. Hy groei in immergroen bergwoude en klowe, meestal in die misgordelgebiede. “Hy kom ook plek-plek voor in die Magaliesberg, maar as gevolg van die stroping van die bas vir medisinale gebruike, is hy nou ‘n baie skaars en seldsame boom. Indien jy hom sou raak loop in die Magaliesberg kan jy jouself baie gelukkig ag,” sê Francis.
Ford celebrates 100 years in South Africa
