RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Life Peglerae Hospital is proud to announce the completion of a major expansion project that includes the upgrade and relocation of its emergency unit and the unveiling of a state-of-the-art 20-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
These advancements bring significant benefits to patients in the Rustenburg community and reinforces the hospital’s commitment to providing quality care and improving healthcare accessibility.

To enhance the efficiency of the emergency unit and improve medical emergency care accessibility for patients, the unit has been relocated to the hospital’s main entrance at 173 Beyers Naude Drive.
The expanded emergency unit has a larger triage area to ensure emergency unit nurses can efficiently evaluate and categorise patients more effectively. The expansion also sees the unit with 12 treatment bays and four resuscitation cubicles, all designed to streamline response capabilities and enhance the delivery of high-quality emergency care.
“To facilitate a smooth transition of the relocated emergency unit, clear signage and employee assistance will guide patients, visitors and emergency responders to the unit’s entrance. Importantly, emergency services will continue uninterrupted throughout the transition period,” said Denise Botha, Hospital Manager.
In addition to relocating the emergency unit, Life Peglerae Hospital’s new 20-bed MICU is equipped with advanced monitoring systems, enhanced ventilation support, and a highly skilled team of intensivists, nurses and support staff. The MICU is designed to provide specialised care for critically ill patients, ensuring they receive timely and expert medical attention.
“The new MICU reaffirms our commitment to patient-centred care and will enhance our intensive care services to patients.”
