Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Children with autism attending the Ligbron Independent school in Wilkoppies will soon benefit from a sustainable flower and vegetable garden that will be therapeutic and educational all in one.

The NewBridge Graduate Institute (NGI) Klerksdorp Campus recently completed phase one of this ongoing “Nature’s Nook for Kids”. The first phase project ran over two days with the group of students and staff volunteers transforming the section of the school yard identified for the garden.

 

 

 

 

 

“A healthy world and the opportunity to nurture it is the best gift we can give to our children,” said Soné Hubbard, principal of the Klerksdorp campus. 

The project has been made possible by a willing team comprising of staff and students and strategic partnerships with local businesses.

“The special garden is a small investment with a profound and lasting return for both the children and the wider community.’’

Xander Van der Walt, 1st year Higher Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality student said, students are very proud of the project and the impact it will have on the children. “We can’t wait to move on to phase two with the aim of completion in the coming months. We are proud about cultivating sustainability in our community, one seedling at a time.’’
