Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A local traffic officer rescued a Chinese man who was hijacked and for that he received a big xièxiè (thank you) for his help.
Representatives of the Chinese Embassy visited Matlosana Municipality on Tuesday February 18 to express gratitude towards Duane Dalton. The meeting, held at the Disaster offices, was attended by Acting Executive Mayor Cllr Zitwane, Director of Public Safety Keaobaka Boikanyo, Ci Ren and team members from the Chinese Embassy.
Officer Dalton’s bravery was commended by all attendees.
According to Kelebogile Moleko: media relations officer, Dalton encountered the distressed victim on the Leeudoringstad/Orkney Road, assisted him, and took him to Orkney police station. Apparently the Chinese man was hijacked near Bothaville.
Director Boikanyo praised Dalton’s alertness and commitment, stating that he served the entire area and community.
Ci Ren expressed gratitude for his courage, highlighting the importance of promoting a safer future and establishing a positive working relationship between the municipality and the Chinese Embassy.
Cllr Zitwane also thanked Dalton for his diligent work, noting that his actions have brought the city closer to other nations.
She further stated that the visit demonstrated the strengthening collaboration between China and South Africa, with a focus on promoting mutual understanding and cooperation.
