Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Ninety artworks are on display at the ARTi Gallery where the TRIO exhibition with works by three local artists opened on Saturday May 17.
The exhibition showcases the works of Robert Thirtle (55 artworks), Anni Thirtle (17 artworks), and André Austin (23 artworks).
Robert’s range across various media, from oil paintings to his recent sculptures will captivate viewers; while his mom, Anni’s work in her signature style of colourful faces and whimsical rabbits has people in awe. She sold five artworks on the opening night with all her rabbits sold out.
André Austin’s remarkable pastel paintings, including his unique steampunk desk lamps are very popular. He made two major sales during the evening. Earlier that day, he presented an art workshop at ARTi.
Robert also launched his RT Diamonds & Jewellery line and sold a significant number of jewellery pieces.
A fun surprise during the evening was a mini art competition. After the speeches, guests were handed art supplies and challenged to draw their partners in 15 minutes. A lucky draw was held from the submissions, and the winner, Samantha Schneider, received a R300 gift voucher.
