Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Art is alive and well in Klerksdorp.

This past weekend, a group of eager matrics at Curro Klerksdorp presented a fundraising initiative they call ARTC or Artists Reflecting the Community. It is Emile Chahine’s brain child and was pulled off so successfully, he and the team managed to raise almost R20 000 to hand over to Reach for a Dream.

The fundraiser held at Curro ranged from individual and group performances and visual art displays. Local schools were invited to participate in the event but in the end only Milner High pupils joined. However, the event on Saturday October 5 was a resounding success.

Adjudicators from the NW University judged performances and in the end awards were handed out in the different categories. “I am blown away by the result and want to thank everyone for their support. We started this to be different and leave a legacy. The main message of this event is to nurture talent while uplifting the community in which we live. We hope to continue this journey next year bigger and better to help more people in need,’’ Emile said.
